Word of the Day: WAS (Worked All States)

If you’re fairly new to Ham Radio and want to get involved in long-distance operating (DXing), before you decide to “work the world,” why not try to “work all states” first? The Work All States (WAS) Award is the most popular of ARRL’s challenges. As its name says, it involves making contact with each of the 50 U.S. states. Contacts may be completed over any period and must be confirmed in writing, preferably in the form of QSL cards or via Logbook of the World (LoTW). Awards are available for making QSOs with 50 states using phone, CW, digital, RTTY, satellite, a combination of modes, or on specific bands.
