Word of the Day: Lockout

A means of preventing two transmitters from keying or transmitting simultaneously. A hardware lockout accomplishes this task by inhibiting the transmit/key line on the different radios with a lockout circuit. A software lockout does the same thing using software. This prevents the station from violating the rules of the contest. For example, it could prevent a multi/multi station from having more than one transmitted signal on the same band, or it might prevent a single operator station from transmitting simultaneously on multiple bands.
