The Clock is Ticking! Dayton Hamvention Begins May 19!

If you’ve been counting down the weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds until Dayton Hamvention 2023 (for impatient types, a rolling clock is available on the event’s official website), then you already know that the gates will be opening on this mega-hamfest in a couple of days (May 19-21). You’ll find everything you need to know about attending on the Hamvention website.

If you’ve never made it to this colossus of amateur radio celebrations, be prepared for three days packed with learning opportunities, equipment from the biggest names in amateur radio, and a virtual sea of fellow hams moving from building to building at the Greene County Fair and Exposition Center in Xenia, Ohio. If you want evidence about the current health of ham radio, you’ll find it at Dayton Hamvention—sponsored by the Dayton Amateur Radio Association (DARA) since 1952 and still going strong. DX Engineering and OnAllBands would like to give a huge shoutout to the many volunteers who make this event such a pleasure to attend.

Here are a few highlights:

  • Amateur radio vendors from around the world, across the country, and up the interstate right here in Ohio, including DX Engineering (Building One)
  • Hamvention’s impressive outdoor flea market
  • Three days of forums, with topics ranging from Software Defined Radio to Mastering SOTA Activations
  • Plenty of prize drawings: Be sure to enter to win Icom products donated by DX Engineering, a 2023 Hamvention Platinum Sponsor
  • Showcase of EmComm vehicles
  • Free licensing exams from 10 am to 2 pm Friday and Saturday

To get yourself even more motivated, watch Tim Duffy, K3LR, DX Engineering CEO, interview Hamvention spokesperson Michael Kalter, W8CI:

As one ham commented during the video, “3 days…not much time to see everything…there is so much to do there!”
