OnAllBands is appropriately ending DX Engineering’s 25th anniversary year by highlighting the bond between amateur radio and DX Engineering’s parent company, aftermarket auto parts giant Summit Racing Equipment.
Summit Racing acquired DX Engineering back in 2000, waving the green flag on a relationship that would see the small company grow into a leading worldwide provider of everything for amateur radio, much like how Summit Racing grew from humble beginnings in 1968 to become “The World’s Speed Shop®.”

DX Engineering headquarters and expanded retail showroom can be found at Summit Racing in Tallmadge, Ohio, where shoppers who are both gearheads and hams can purchase a transmission for their resto project and a transceiver for their station in one fell swoop.

Over the years, DX Engineering has carried a range of ham-radio-friendly products from Summit Racing, including Premium Battery Relocation Kits, Fuse Blocks, Accessory Wire, Magnetic Tool Trays, and more.
Now, Summit Racing is Carrying Kits from DX Engineering
Recently, the Akron Sports Car Club was having problems with its wireless FarmTek track timing system. They called the folks at Summit Racing, who turned to the radio communications experts at DX Engineering. DXE got to the root of the problem—a combination of underperforming antennas and excessive electrical “noise.” DX Engineering solved the problem with high-efficiency antennas to improve the timing transmitter range and a bandpass filter to mitigate the noise.
In the video below, Cory, W3JL, DX Engineering Senior Engineering and Production Manager, explains how a few smart upgrades improved the performance of the wireless timing system.
