It’s All in the Cards: QSLs from St. Vincent and the Grendanines QRV

Every month, DX Engineering features QSL cards from our team members’ personal collections. To highlight upcoming DXpeditions, we’ll be displaying a few of our favorite cards along with details about what it took to make these contacts. We’re excited to share some of the special cards pulled from the thousands we’ve received over the years. We look forward to seeing your cards as well!

St. Vincent and the Grenadines QRV in May

DXers will have a chance to log St. Vincent and the Grenadines this May. From May 7-14, Brian, GW4DVB will be active as J88PI from Palm Island, IOTA NA-025, operating on 40-6M SSB, FT8, and SSTV. This small island in the Grenadines got its name from the multitude of coconut palms covering what used to be a swampy, mosquito-infested land known as Prune Island. Today, Palm Island is home to sea turtles, hermit crabs, tree lizards, an island resort and spa, and the remnants of a golf course, which has been overtaken by the natural foliage.

The sovereign state of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (known simply as St. Vincent) lies in the West Indies at the southern end of the eastern border of the Caribbean Sea. It ranked as the 157th most wanted DXCC entity as of April.

Bob W5OV, DX Engineering sales manager and member of the DXCC Honor Roll, made a QSO with the VP2SAA St. Vincent DXpedition back in 1979 on 20M SSB.

Mark Ludwick, W8BBQ, DX Engineering customer/technical support specialist, scored this QSL card from the JA/JA7SGV 2012 St. Vincent and the Grenadines DXpedition on 10M CW. The card shows a spectacular view of Kingstown, St. Vincent’s capital.
