Don’t Forget the Band Pass Filters on Field Day

ARRL Field Day (June 27-28, 2020) can be a challenge if you’re not properly prepared. One of the biggest obstacles to a successful Field Day can be setting up multiple antennas in a tight space. Talk to a Field Day veteran and you’re sure to hear tales of radio frequency interference (RFI) that caused major problems between stations. Check out this OAB blog from Mark, K8MSH, on avoiding interference on Field Day.

If you’re the one responsible for antenna deployment, DX Engineering’s Triplexer Filter Combination Packages will help you sleep a little sounder before the big event.

These packages make it easy to work the 20, 15, and 10 meter bands with three different radios, using just a single tri-band antenna. The Field Day Triplexer Combo includes Low Band Systems’ (LBS) innovative 200W Triplexer (LBS-PB-TP200), LBS 20/15/10M band-pass filters, and coaxial cable jumpers. Choose from RG8X cable or high-performance RG400. It’s a simple way to get the most out of Field Day. Eliminate the need (and cost) for extra antennas while enjoying fast setup and worry-free operation without RF interference. The system works with any tri-bander antenna, including DX Engineering’s reliable 20/15/10M Skyhawk. Click here for full package details.

If you don’t need the whole combo, be sure to check out DX Engineering’s wide selection of band pass filters. It’s also a good idea to bring along a selection of ferrite toroids and beads in various mixes to mitigate RFI problems in the field.

A Final Field Day Thought

Most importantly during this extraordinary time, Amateur Radio clubs are being forced to rethink how to best approach Field Day 2020. Here are some thoughts to consider and tips on ways to adapt from the ARRL.
