HAM Radio 101

What is a Panadapter (Word of the Day)?

A band scope that displays signals on a band visually, usually as a line or area graph, allowing for a view of activity across a slice or an entire band. The display shows signal strength on the vertical axis and frequency on the horizontal, and is sometimes combined with a waterfall display which presents a brief historical view of activity on a frequency instead of an instantaneous view. This can be a stand-alone piece of hardware, integrated into a radio, or software produced by a product like a skimmer. If you hear Hams talking about a “Fish Finder,” they are probably talking about a panadapter.

DX Engineering Clifton Laboratories Z10000 Buffer Amplifier is a valuable tool for adding an SDR receiver and panadapter display capabilities to a receiver or transceiver which lacks that feature.
