New Product Spotlight Video: Carlson Drive-On Mast Mount Car Stands

Sometimes portable operations aren’t so easy if the surroundings make antenna deployment problematic or if your location doesn’t allow you to throw an antenna in a tree. In those cases, make sure you have all your bases covered. The innovators at Carlson have a simple and sturdy option for getting a wire antenna safely in the air for your POTA and other outdoor activations.

Just drive your vehicle onto one of these well-built Heavy-Duty Carlson Drive-On Mast Mount Car Stands to secure your antenna and start racking up QSOs.

The package consists of a separate mast-holding pipe stand that attaches to a base plate. The HD plate (red version) is made with ¼-inch steel. The standard drive-on mast mount car stand model (gray) is made with 9-gauge high-tensile steel. The plate on both standard and heavy-duty models is designed so you can safely drive your vehicle wheel on top of it.

The heavy-duty base and three sizes of pipe stands are also sold separately.

The heavy-duty pipe stand comes in these versions:

  • 2-inch OD for masts ranging from 1.4 to 2 inches
  • 2.5-inch OD for masts ranging from 2 to 2.5 inches
  • 3-inch OD for masts ranging from 2.5 to 3 inches

Packages come with 3/8 hex bolts and nuts, and thumb screw for securing the mast in the pipe stand.

Carlson recommends using common sense in high winds where the wind load rating of the antenna, based on height/square footage, could exceed mast limits.
