COMTEK CFC-50X Common Mode Feedline Choke: This 1:1 coaxial feedline choke suppresses unwanted RF currents on the outer shield of coaxial feedlines. It’s built with 15 Mix-31 ferrite beads on premium DX Engineering RG-8X coaxial cable and offers improved performance for a wide variety of antenna systems including EFHW, dipoles, random wires, and verticals. Benefits include:

  • Provides 35-40 dB of attenuation from 1.8-54 MHz, helping eliminate common mode currents that can cause RF feedback and noise
  • Ideal for placement at the antenna feedpoint
  • Also may be used where a long run of feedline leaves a remote antenna switch or a tower and can be effective at the shack end of a long run of on-the-ground or above-ground coaxial feedline
  • Prevents your coax from becoming part of the radiating antenna system, ensuring consistent tuning and reducing interference

“Lightning Protection: A Comprehensive Guide for Amateur Radio” by Ron Block, NR2B: Targeted specifically to hams, the book presents the theory behind the protection scheme starting with lightning theory and our vulnerability to its destructive effects and continues with a practical implementation guide. It covers what needs to be protected, your zone-of-protection, the creation of a Single Point Ground Panel (SPGP), bonding of that SPGP to an external ground system, and more. Numerous examples and drawings included.
